Job Summary

The Material Coordinator II will coordinate material flow, inventory, production planning, and experimental manufacturing support across multiple factory departments. The role ensures production teams have the required materials available on time while maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating material transfers, supporting purchased-part availability, and resolving material or production issues.

The position also supports experimental builds by creating manufacturing routings, generating fabrication programs, reviewing part drawings, and troubleshooting manufacturing and engineering requests.

Key Responsibilities

Material Planning & Inventory

• Coordinate the flow of materials across multiple factory departments, including shipping and receiving.
• Ensure production personnel have the right parts and materials available on time.
• Coordinate procurement, expediting, production, and delivery of materials.
• Manage the movement of rejected materials back to the appropriate source.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Identify and correct the root causes of material shortages.
• Use the Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules.
• Process inbound and outbound material transactions as required.
• Audit material replenishment cycles and inventory accuracy.
• Support material replenishment planning.
• Resolve inventory issues and expedite parts to prevent production interruptions.
• Monitor critical shortage reports and ensure part availability.
• Implement requirements resulting from engineering releases and change-management processes.
• Provide work direction to material handlers, stock chasers, or truckers when required.

Experimental Manufacturing & Parts Procurement

• Create and edit manufacturing routings for experimental builds.
• Generate programs for fabrication operations.
• Review and interpret manufactured-part prints and 2D drawings.
• Monitor production inventory and forecast future material requirements.
• Coordinate stock transfers between departments and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate with internal teams regarding material transfers.
• Coordinate with Supply Management regarding purchased parts and stock availability.
• Troubleshoot part requests and material issues from engineering teams.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving laser programs and manufacturing routings.
• Prepare and update daily and weekly reports using Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Occasionally design and model simple parts for shop use.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Pre-Engineering, Manufacturing/Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with CREO and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SAP and Power BI.
• Knowledge of inventory management practices.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings/prints.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of computer literacy and comfort working with technology.
• Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will combine material planning and inventory coordination skills with hands-on manufacturing knowledge. They should be comfortable working with SAP, engineering drawings, CAD tools, Excel, and production teams while proactively resolving material shortages, coordinating transfers, supporting experimental builds, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
