Essential Functions:
- Support the materials team at Klim in developing the best materials for finished products.
- Assist in all aspects of material development across all brands under Teton Outfitters.
- Maintain and organize the material library.
- Support compliance-related developments, including PFAS changes and CE certification.
- Assist in all material development functions as new needs and tasks arise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain timeline adherence for fabric and material deliverables.
- Develop and implement verifiable and reliable fabric and test methods.
- Build on fabric supplier resources to control costs and stay ahead in product availability.
- Develop processes with Design and Purchasing for tracking and reporting production, quality, vendor compliance, and costing.
- Cultivate domestic and global raw material vendor relationships to improve turnaround, quality, and cost.
- Ensure timely and correct processing of fabric orders.
- Find suitable cost-effective alternatives to maintain product quality.
- Establish relationships to keep Klim on the leading edge of material innovation.
- Organize and maintain the material library for future development and current production.
- Interact effectively with key fabric and material suppliers.
- Anticipate problems, offer solutions, and address issues with fabrics and materials to meet design and financial goals.
- Create appropriate lab test procedures and processes.
- Accomplish tasks as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- Interpret and discuss information involving unfamiliar terminology or concepts.
- Resolve problems within established practices.
- Provide occasional technical guidance.
- Monitor and ensure economies of scale.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma required; degree in materials, product development, or apparel preferred.
- Strong computer skills with Excel, Word, and PLM software.
- Strong ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Deliver accurate quality data on time.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
Working Conditions:
- Responsibilities may require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little notice.
