Position Overview

The Front of House Manager is responsible for all guest-facing operations, including service, staffing, scheduling, bar operations, guest satisfaction, social media, and labor management.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can hire, train, coach, and hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive work environment and delivering outstanding hospitality.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard front-of-house employees.
  • Train, coach, and develop servers, bartenders, hosts, bussers, and food runners.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Hold staff accountable to company standards and expectations.
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training.
  • Build a positive, high-performing team culture.

Scheduling & Labor Management

  • Create weekly schedules based on projected sales, reservations, and business trends.
  • Monitor labor costs and staffing levels throughout each shift.
  • Adjust schedules and staffing as needed to meet labor targets.
  • Manage employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws, breaks, and overtime regulations.

Guest Experience

  • Lead the dining room and ensure exceptional guest service.
  • Resolve guest concerns and complaints professionally.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and members of the local community.
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews when appropriate.
  • Maintain high service standards at all times.

Bar Operations

  • Oversee all bar operations and beverage service.
  • Train bartenders on recipes, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Monitor liquor, beer, and wine inventories.
  • Assist with beverage menu development and seasonal promotions.
  • Control beverage costs and monitor inventory variances.

Social Media & Marketing

  • Manage restaurant social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Create and post engaging content featuring menu items, cocktails, events, and promotions.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and messages on social media.
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing initiatives and special events.
  • Help drive guest traffic through community engagement and online presence.

Operations & Accountability

  • Ensure restaurant cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards are maintained.
  • Conduct opening and closing inspections.
  • Monitor daily sales and operational performance.
  • Provide ownership with regular updates regarding staffing, labor, guest feedback, and operational opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of full-service restaurant operations.
  • Experience hiring, training, and managing staff.
  • Strong bar and alcohol knowledge.
  • Experience creating schedules and managing labor costs.
  • Experience with social media marketing and content creation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Preferred

  • Experience managing a full-service restaurant and bar.
  • Shift4 POS experience.
  • Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service certifications.
  • Local marketing and community engagement experience.
