The Role
The Inventory Planning Manager owns ThreadBeast's inventory plan: what we buy, how much, and when. You will build and manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets, forecast demand across subscription cycles, and use customer feedback and sell-through data to decide what to chase, cut, or exit. You will partner closely with merchandising, buying, and marketing to keep the assortment aligned with member preferences and financial targets. This role reports to the VP of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Own the inventory planning calendar aligned to subscription box cycles: pre-cycle buy plans, mid-cycle reforecasts, and post-cycle hindsight reviews.
- Build and manage OTB budgets and purchase plans aligned with revenue, margin, and cash flow targets.
- Forecast demand at the plan, category, and size level to keep boxes shippable without overstocking.
- Define assortment structure (SKU count, mix, and depth by category) based on member preferences and personalization needs.
- Maintain a SKU, brand, and category performance scorecard combining sell-through, weeks of supply, returns, and ratings.
- Translate customer preference and behavioral data (style profiles, size preferences, engagement signals), not just ratings, into inventory recommendations for upcoming buy cycles.
- Flag products with consistently negative feedback and drive rapid exit decisions (reallocation, discontinuation, selloff) alongside the aged-inventory process.
- Make in-season chase, cut, and reorder calls based on sell-through and demand signals.
- Build ThreadBeast's approach to aged and underperforming inventory, including box allocation, selloffs, and liquidation paths.
- Partner with merchandising, buying, and marketing to align buys with promotional plans and brand priorities.

Qualifications
- 8 years in inventory planning, retail planning, or merchandising; subscription or DTC experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on ownership of OTB budgets and purchase planning
- Strong demand forecasting and SKU-level performance analysis skills
- Experience using customer feedback data (ratings, reviews, returns) to inform buying decisions
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, dynamic formulas)
- Experience with an inventory management system (we use Odoo; comparable platforms acceptable)

- SQL proficiency (our data warehouse is BigQuery)
- Direct Odoo experience
