What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dock Attendant (Seasonal) position at Thousand Islands Bridge Authority - Boldt Castle?
The Boldt Facilities team is looking for candidates who love working on the river as much as we do! In this role, you’ll be working at one of the region’s premiere attractions— historic Boldt Castle. Commute by boat to and from the Yacht House every day. EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Assists Tour Boat operators in docking and directs private crafts to designated docking areas.
2. Observes and assists with safety precautions during docking of commercial vessels as well as with passengers disembarking and boarding upon all vessels.
3. You are going to be asked many questions, many times, many being the same day in and day out, be courteous, polite and helpful. It is very important to the Authority and our patrons that you are familiar with all aspects of our daily operations and that you present yourself in a helpful and assisting manner.
4. You are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of docks and outside buildings.
5. Assist in the transport of supplies and/or personnel to and from Heart Island as needed.
6. Transport guests, via golf cart, to and from the Castle or wedding site. Or transport supplies/garbage around the island or via boat to and from the Boldt Yacht House.
Persons hired as a Boldt Castle Dock Attendant will also be required to perform the duty of a Boldt Yacht House Shuttle Deck Hand. All of the aforementioned assignments, duties and stipulations will be in effect for this position.
BOLDT YACHT HOUSE SHUTTLE/DECK HAND
1. Assist the Boldt Yacht House Shuttle Captain in cleaning and preparing this vessel for each days use and operation. Keep all lines, fenders and equipment neatly organized.
2. Special attention will be given to the safety of passengers as they board and disembark from this vessel, your personal safety along with that of your Captain’s is of the utmost importance as well, be alert and aware at all times for any possible situation that may compromise anyone’s safety.
3. Be knowledgeable and trained in all matters regarding this vessels safety devices, including but not limited to personal floatation devices, firefighting equipment and procedures for recovery at sea, man overboard training.
4. In order to work upon the Authority’s Boldt Yacht House Shuttle, the USCG mandates that any person assigned to this vessel must be included in an approved Drug and Alcohol screening program with random testing occurring during the length of your employment.
Whether you are assigned to either position, Dock Attendant or Deck Hand all Authority employees maybe asked to perform duties as requested by their supervisor.
