What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer - Electronics Packaging position at Thoron?
Thoron is building USA Designed and Built Enterprise Drones.
We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work closely with leadership (the founders) and translate customer product needs and company milestones into short, medium, and long term product electronics packaging needs.
What You’ll Do
- Own and independently lead our packaging efforts
- Perform tradeoff analysis between manufacturing processes, complexity, volumes, cost, and timelines
- Detailed design and CAD of components, assemblies, and tooling; including:
- -- Master modeling, space claims, and systems engineering
- -- Process selection (3D printing, injection molding, machining, overmolding, etc)
- -- Sealing approach and validation strategies
- -- Component selection
- -- Multi-board PCB design and interconnects
- -- PCB review
- -- Mechanism design
- Move independently and fast
- Manage outside contractors as necessary
What you Bring
- 5 years of experience packaging handheld consumer or industrial electronics (as described above)
- You’ve worked on projects from start to production ramp
- Ability to be onsite daily. Expected location: Kent, WA or nearby
