PART-TIME VETERINARY ASSISTANT: MORNING AVAILABILITY NEEDED
Thornton Animal Hospital in Opelika, AL is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant! This is a part-time opportunity for candidates with morning availability. Experience is preferred. Veterinary Technician/Assistant needed to assist the doctors and to ensure the best possible care for our patients and clients. They have direct contact with our patients and must love to work with animals and be dedicated to the care and comfort of animals.

Required qualifications/experience:
- Our ideal candidate will have a strong history in the veterinary profession. Recent experience is required.
- Experience using Avimark is desired.
- High School Diploma is a minimum requirement.

As a Veterinary Technician/Assistant:

- You prepare medications according to discharge orders with concise directions for our clients.
- You will learn our vaccine protocol and assist the doctor in preparing vaccines for patients.
- You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
- You will clean and disinfect areas of the hospital as often as is necessary to maintain high standards of care.
- You prepare patient meals, clean patient cages and bedding, and maintain litter boxes.
- You will assist the doctors in treatments and safely approach/restrain cooperative patients as needed during treatments.
- You will provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs.
- You observe patients for obvious signs of health concerns and report any findings to senior staff.
- You can effectively clean and maintain hospital equipment and tools.
- You will quantify patient voids and report findings to senior Veterinary Assistant or Technician.
- You will remove and wash soiled laundry and keep clean laundry stocked.
- You will patrol facility regularly to ensure cleanliness.
- You will complete daily checklists as set up by your Supervisor.
- You will perform other duties, as assigned, by your Supervisor.
Pay is dependent upon experience, abilities and licensure (if applicable).
