Thoreau Elementary School is seeking an experienced and collaborative School Psychologist to join our student support team. Thoreau is a vibrant K–5 elementary school community committed to fostering academic excellence, belonging, inclusion, and the social-emotional well-being of all students. The School Psychologist will work closely and collaboratively with the principal, special education administrator, school counselors, mental health team, teachers, and families to support students across a continuum of needs. Collaboration, relationship building, and proactive problem-solving are essential components of this role. Responsibilities include participating in the evaluation and reevaluation process, conducting psychoeducational assessments, writing reports, presenting findings at team meetings, counseling students, consulting with staff and families, and helping to strengthen schoolwide mental health and behavioral supports. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting both special education and general education students and will contribute to a positive, student-centered school culture. Based on the standards outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists, responsibilities include: * Conduct psychoeducational evaluations and participate in special education eligibility and reevaluation meetings * Prepare written evaluation reports and present findings clearly and collaboratively at team meetings * Partner closely with families throughout the evaluation and support process * Collaborate daily with the principal, special education administrator, counselors, and teaching staff to support student needs * Maintain an active counseling caseload for students with IEPs and general education students * Serve as an active member of the school’s mental health team, child study team, and Incident Management Team * Provide consultation and case management support at grade-level team meetings * Develop and facilitate Tier 2 intervention groups focused on executive functioning, SEL, or related areas * Support special education programming and student intervention planning within the building * Build positive relationships with students and maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the school community * Participate in and support professional development related to student mental health, SEL, and inclusive practices * Support staff in implementing strategies and interventions to meet diverse student needs Candidates should have experience working as a School Psychologist in a public school setting and possess strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Excellent collaboration, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Psychologist is required. Salary: Appropriate step/lane on the teacher salary schedule.
