Summary: The Licensed Psychologist will utilize clinical expertise and evidence-based practices to conduct assessments, contribute to interdisciplinary treatment plans, and provide direct counseling services. Participation in the Clinical Advisory Group will include work aimed at dissemination of best clinical practices for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities through (1) consultative support to program leadership teams regarding the implementation of clinical frameworks and practices, (2) clinical supervision of direct service providers, and (3) teaching, training, researching, and publishing in their areas of clinical practice. Utilizing Quality of Life Frameworks, Trauma-Informed practices, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) they will provide consultation, training, and support for caregivers and staff to create comprehensive programming and promote the quality of life for individuals served by The Guild.

Major Duties/Responsibilities

ASSESSMENT AND CLINICAL SERVICES

  • Complete psychological testing and clinical evaluation reports that include cognitive, social-emotional, and/or functional behavior assessments, working in conjunction with IEP teams to inform annual reviews, formulate goals and objectives, and complete three-year re-evaluations.
  • Provide interpretive information and consultation to Guild staff and primary caregivers related to assessment results and integrating recommendations into Guild programming.
  • Facilitate and participate in multi-disciplinary clinical peer review meetings, conducted quarterly record reviews to ensure ongoing quality of clinical service provision, and monitor clinical outcome data.
  • Provide consultation to the educational, residential, and clinician teams and participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings as needed to discuss and evaluate the diagnosis and treatment of individuals across Guild settings.
  • Provide clinical support, treatment, and counseling services to individuals and their caregivers and families with documented treatment plans and outcome reports.
  • Complete Clinical Team Reports and other assessments needed for guardianship and transition services for individuals in Guild programs.
  • Provide support to milieu services by modeling therapeutic interactions and engagement, engaging in de-escalation of individuals, and assisting with crisis management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques, special education systems, and community resources through in-service training, seminars, workshops, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TRAINING AND STAFF SUPPORT

  • Work collaboratively to develop and conduct ongoing professional development and training programs that build and expand the capacity of all Guild staff on relevant clinical strategies, including effective pre-service (orientation) training and ongoing competency-based training in accordance with all regulatory and agency guidelines.
  • Develop training modules to meet the on-going training needs of The Guild’s clinical providers across relevant clinical techniques, frameworks, and models.
  • Coordinate and conduct educational/training activities, support groups, and/or community building activities for parents/guardians and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prioritize the use of evidence-based practices, including researching programming trends and current practices used in other programs/milieus.
  • Attend trainings and maintain professional licensure/certification as required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including inclement weather situations
  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize activities with specific attention to higher level strategies while ensuring that details are also effectively addressed
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job.
  • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportations of individuals.
  • Must be able to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI)
  • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the residence

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral level clinical or school psychology degree, APA accreditation preferred
  • Massachusetts licensed psychologist or licensed eligible required
  • Five (5) years of experience with children/adolescents who have developmental disabilities and other related disorders, including psychiatric and mental health diagnoses
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts regulatory standards is required with preferred experience in regulatory compliance with standards from Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and Department of Children and Families (DCF), and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
