Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Minneapolis, MN, for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will handle daily accounting operations, including managing financial statements, overseeing general ledger activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities include preparing budgets, performing account reconciliations, monitoring financial transactions, and supporting audits. The role will also involve collaborating with internal teams to optimize financial processes and ensure accurate reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
● Responsible for the preparation of the company’s financial statements.
● Maintain quality control over all financial transactions.
● Completes monthly bank reconciliations for various bank accounts for the company and its affiliates.
● Oversees month-end closing and year-end closing and coordinates and assigns duties to the accounting staff as needed.
● Maintain accounting systems to ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of accounting company transactions are performed within the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
● Provides training, guidance, and direction to employees to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely, and knowledgeable manner.
● Update contracts with the company’s members and communicates changes to members accounting staff.
● Monitors and ensures company benefits are paid timely to insurance carriers and employee withholding deductions are accurate and accounted for properly.
● Prepares and provides financial statements, sales reports, commission reports, analysis, and other reports on a scheduled or unprompted basis
● Confers with upper management about budgeting and reviewing strategies to meet overall goals and objectives.
● Records and ensures payment of all debt service obligations of the company.
● Maintains good corporate relations with customers, vendors, banking institutions, auditors, owner companies and other affiliates.
● Works closely with financial institutions concerning banking activity changes, enhancements and charges.
● Responsible for general liability insurance renewals and amendments
● Reports findings on financial opportunities and risks to senior management
● Implement new systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
Education/Experience:
● 2 years of experience
● Excellent computer skills
● Excellent knowledge and experience with accounting software and databases
● Ability to multitask
● Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
