Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Wilmington, NC. This role is responsible for performing daily accounting tasks such as preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts. The Staff Accountant will assist with preparing financial statements, supporting documentation, and schedules for internal use and for clients. Responsibilities also include supporting tax preparation, assisting with audits or reviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The role involves communicating with clients and team members, responding to information requests, and contributing to the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will also help improve processes, maintain organized records, and support other firm projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; ability to learn new financial systems quickly.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience); CPA eligibility or certification is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site in Wilmington, NC, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
- Prior public accounting, tax preparation, or audit experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and develop professionally is essential.
