Thompson Hospitality is looking for an energetic and experienced Retail/Concessions Manager at Norfolk State University. If you have a passion for great food, strong leadership skills, and love being part of a vibrant campus community, we want to meet you.

The Retail Manager / Concessions is responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail food outlets and athletic concessions on campus. This role ensures seamless and high-quality experience for students, staff, and visitors by managing day-to-day operations, leading a dynamic team, and executing successful game-day concessions.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operations of multiple retail concepts and campus concession venues.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of hourly associates and supervisors.
  • Drive excellence in customer service and food quality.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to boost sales.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to enhance student experience.
  • Manage financial performance including budgets, forecasting, and reporting.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience in retail foodservice or concessions management (college or stadium experience is a plus).
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
  • Passion for innovation, diversity, and community engagement.

Physical & Working Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time, often up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and fast-paced environments.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
