Make exact measurements to determine property boundaries and provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation and dimension of land or land features on the earth’s surface.
Job Responsibilities
- Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
- Develop new data from photogrammetric records.
- Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Record the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimensions of site.
- Maintain accuracy of surveying equipment.
- Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries using transits, levels and GPS systems.
- Write description of site and assist with drafting of site map.
- Coordinate findings of survey with engineering, architectural personnel and the client.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying and a minimum of 3 years of experience working under a surveyor in the field.
- Must be licensed in the state.
- Must also operate sophisticated measuring instruments such as transits, laser rangefinders and GPS equipment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
- 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
- Background check and Chemical Screen based on job location/requirements
- Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
- Utilize basic math, algebra and geometry.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
- Candidate may be required to pass a drug screen and criminal background check based on job location/requirements
