Position Summary
Thompson/Center Arms is seeking a detail-driven Metal Finisher to support the production of premium firearms and components. This role is responsible for preparing, finishing, and refining metal parts to meet exacting quality and aesthetic standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, understands surface finishing processes, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform metal finishing operations including polishing, buffing, sanding, bead blasting, and deburring on firearm components
- Prepare surfaces for coatings such as Cerakote, bluing, nitriding, or anodizing
- Inspect parts for defects, surface imperfections, and dimensional accuracy
- Maintain consistent finishes that meet T/C Arms’ visual and performance standards
- Use hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment safely and effectively
- Work closely with machining, coating, and assembly teams to ensure seamless production flow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies
- Follow all quality control procedures and documentation requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of experience in metal finishing, polishing, or surface prep (firearms or aerospace preferred)
- Familiarity with finishing processes such as media blasting, tumbling, or surface coating prep
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent finishes across production runs
- Ability to read basic drawings and follow work instructions
- Comfortable working with small parts and tight tolerances
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the firearms industry or precision manufacturing
- Knowledge of GD&T basics and surface finish requirements
- Experience working with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum components
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
