We are seeking an experienced Inventory Control Specialist to help ensure the materials, components, work-in-process, and finished goods that move through our operation are accurately controlled, accounted for, and available when our production teams need them.

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate, controlled, and reliable inventory throughout Thompson/Center Arms operations. This position ensures that physical inventory and ERP/NetSuite records—including quantities, locations, status, work-in-process, and production transactions, remain aligned and accurate. This is a hands-on manufacturing position that works closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Receiving, Shipping, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Assembly, and Operations leadership. The Inventory Control Specialist plays an important role in preventing material shortages, resolving inventory discrepancies, maintaining accurate WIP, and supporting reliable execution of the production schedule.The ideal candidate combines strong ERP and analytical skills with the willingness to work directly on the manufacturing floor to understand material flow, identify problems, and drive them through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory accuracy across raw materials, purchased components, work-in-process (WIP), outside processing, finished goods, quality hold/MRB, rework, and scrap.
• Execute and maintain a disciplined cycle-counting program, investigate variances, document findings, and drive corrective action for recurring inventory issues.
• Maintain accurate and timely inventory transactions within ERP/NetSuite, including receipts, issues, transfers, production consumption, completions, outside processing, returns, scrap, adjustments, and finished-goods movements.
• Ensure clear identification, traceability, and location control of inventory throughout receiving, production, supermarkets, point-of-use locations, WIP, quality hold, finished goods, and shipping.
• Work proactively with Planning and Production to identify material shortages, inventory discrepancies, and potential risks before they interrupt scheduled production.
• Maintain accurate WIP visibility and regularly reconcile physical material against system inventory throughout the manufacturing process.
• Maintain control and visibility of Thompson/Center-owned inventory located at outside processors and vendors.
• Partner with Quality to maintain accurate control and disposition of MRB, quality-hold, rework, and scrap inventory.
• Support finished-goods accuracy, allocation readiness, and inventory-related shipment execution.
• Identify master-data issues involving part numbers, BOMs, routings, units of measure, revisions, inventory locations, and related records and drive issues to the appropriate owner for resolution.
• Investigate significant inventory discrepancies using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Support assembly material readiness through disciplined Kanban, two-bin replenishment, point-of-use inventory, and other inventory-control practices.
• Participate in physical inventories, inventory audits, reconciliation activities, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Help establish and maintain inventory-control processes that support a disciplined, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operation.

Qualifications

• Previous inventory-control experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• ERP/MRP system experience required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of cycle counting, physical inventories, work orders, bills of material (BOMs), routings, WIP, and manufacturing material flow.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and follow corrective actions through completion.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• High level of ownership, accountability, urgency, and follow-through.
• Ability and willingness to work both on the manufacturing floor and within ERP systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Receiving, Shipping, and Operations.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, visual management, Kanban/two-bin replenishment, and continuous improvement preferred.
