Position Summary
The Biology Lab Technician supports lab preparation, equipment maintenance, and safe operation of laboratory spaces used for undergraduate instruction. This position plays a key role in ensuring a well-organized, student-focused learning environment that aligns with the University's commitment to academic excellence and ethical responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and solutions for biology courses
- Assist faculty with setup and cleanup of teaching labs
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety standards, and inventory of supplies
- Monitor and maintain equipment, including routine upkeep and coordination of repairs
- Track and organize chemicals, reagents, and biological specimens
- Support safe handling, storage, and disposal of materials in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide general assistance to faculty and students during laboratory sessions, as needed
- Other duties that advance the efficiency and operation of the biology laboratory environment
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or a related field preferred
- Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with common lab equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience in an academic or research lab is a plus
