Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit is responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. The RN monitors patients requiring continuous cardiac telemetry, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and ensures patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize abnormal rhythms, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policy and physician orders.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to deliver optimal care.
- Educate patients and families regarding condition, treatment plan, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Safely operate and monitor telemetry equipment and other critical medical devices.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Uphold infection prevention and safety standards.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring the delivery of respectful and culturally sensitive care.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities and staff development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred or obtained within [X] months of hire.
- Telemetry certification – preferred.
- Experience:
- 2 years of acute care experience in Medical-Surgical and/or Telemetry units preferred.
- New graduate RNs considered for residency programs where applicable.
