Heat Treat Technician Assistant

Job Description:

The Heat Treat Technician will support daily operations in the heat treat facility, assisting with the movement and processing of parts through the shop. This role involves assisting with furnace equipment operations, assisting with testing, and preparing parts for processing. The technician assistant will also be responsible for routine cleaning, shop upkeep, and maintaining equipment such as cooling towers, pumps, parts cleaners, furnace filters, heating chambers, fixtures, and other shop tools. This position requires regular lifting, carrying, and moving of parts and equipment, as well as working in hot and industrial environments.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Skills & Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and processing of parts in the heat treat shop.

Load and unload parts into furnaces and assist with equipment operation.

Assist with straightening and calibration as needed.

Perform routine shop cleaning and maintenance of equipment.

Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Provide general support to the heat treat team and metallurgist as directed.

Physical Requirements

Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable working in high-temperature and industrial environments.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.

Knowledge & Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Prior experience in a manufacturing or shop environment preferred.

Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

Willingness to learn furnace operation and hardness testing (training provided).

Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) a plus.
