We are seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to help lead and grow our team as we continue to fulfill our mission.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Manager serves as a key member of the Foundation's leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources strategy, operations, and compliance. This individual will partner closely with the Chief Operating Officer and department heads to build a strong organizational culture, attract and retain top talent, and ensure the Foundation operates in accordance with all applicable employment laws and best practices.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Staffing
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for all positions
- Manage the full-cycle hiring process including job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding
- Partner with department managers to define staffing needs and position requirements
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-aligned workplace culture
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR matters
- Investigate and resolve employee issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters
Compliance & Policy
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legal requirements
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims, filings, and compliance, including coordination with insurance carriers and adherence to state reporting requirements
Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee compensation structures, salary reviews, and benefits administration
- Manage relationships with benefits vendors and coordinate open enrollment
- Analyze compensation data to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity
Performance & Development
- Design and administer performance leadership processes and goal-setting frameworks
- Identify training and professional development needs and implement outcomes driven solutions that contribute to improved performance and increased growth and development of employees, leaders, and the organization.
- Facilitate succession planning, employee leadership and development initiatives
Performance & Development

Employee Recognition
- Design and manage employee recognition programs to celebrate achievements milestones, and contributions
- Partner with managers to identify and reward high performance and positive behaviors
- Coordinate service anniversary and tenure recognition initiatives
- Track recognition program participation and effectiveness, adjusting based on employee feedback
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Thorough knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Proven experience managing recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
- Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience working in a nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven organization
- Familiarity with volunteer management and seasonal staffing
