What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Social Worker position at THIRD WAY CENTER INC?
Third Way Center's Joan Farley Academy is looking for a full time School Social Worker to work as a member of our team working with high risk youth ages 13-20. We are looking for a creative and dynamic person who likes to be challenged and seeks to learn and better themselves professionally and personally. Our mission is to provide a continuum of services where at-risk youth can work through their traumas and learn to take responsibility for their actions and lives to become productive members of society.
The School Social Worker is part of a multidisciplinary team, providing therapeutic and educational services to students attending Third Way Center Joan Farley Academy or Joan Farley Academy - Lowry. The School Social Worker shall perform all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of the mission and philosophy of Third Way Center. The School Social Worker shall be sensitive to the cultural differences among the children, their families and the Third Way Center Staff and respond appropriately to these differences.
FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week) - this position follows the TWC School Calendar
This position also comes with a $2500 annual differential for our PRTF setting on top of the posted salary.
ROLES AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Meet with students as requested and proactively for treatment, social/emotional and educational needs
- Provide crisis management
- Communicate school plans with house staff
- Be present in the hallways to supervise students, especially during transition, when available
- Attend student monthly staffing's when necessary
- Maintain and enforce school milieu structure
- Document sessions through case notes when applicable
- Fulfill role as liaison for therapeutic and school teams
- Continue to be aware and supportive of student treatment plans and focus
- Attend IEP meetings and provide written social/emotional reports for IEPs
- Complete BASC for Special Education evaluations/meetings
- Compile student transcripts, complete transcript reviews, work with the Educational Coordinator/Special Education Director in determining credit completion and graduation requirements
- Infinite Campus responsibilities - quarterly report cards, transcripts, IEPs
- Organize and participate in mediations with students when necessary
- Conduct a school intake with new students
- Share new student intake history with educational team
- Support and assist with student transitions between JFA Lowry and JFA
- Attend Graduation Ceremonies and help when needed
- Other duties as assigned
- SUPERVISION:
- Schedule weekly supervision with Educational Coordinator/School Supervisor
- Schedule weekly supervision with Therapeutic Supervisor
- Attend school team meetings
- Attend therapeutic meetings as needed (i.e. Teacher/therapist meetings)
QUALIFICATIONS:
LSW or LCSW license required and must have or be working towards CDE Special Services Provider/School Social Worker licensure.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check including DMV records.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
