BIM Coordinator - Cincinnati OH
We are working with leadership at a well established mechanical contractor to add a BIM Coordinator to their Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are hiring a BIM Coordinator to support the development and coordination of 3D mechanical system models across complex commercial construction projects. This role will work closely with the Lead BIM Coordinator, VDC Manager, field superintendents, and project teams to ensure accurate system modeling, clash coordination, and constructible mechanical system layouts.
This position plays a key role in ensuring that mechanical systems are coordinated effectively with other trades and that construction teams receive accurate coordination drawings and model updates throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Create mechanical system drawings and 3D models using architect generated dimensions and structural backgrounds under the supervision of the Lead BIM Coordinator or VDC Manager
Participate in trade coordination meetings and update 3D models to resolve clashes and coordination conflicts
Identify and communicate discrepancies, unclear design intent, or missing information that may impact coordination or installation
Work closely with the Lead BIM Coordinator during coordination meetings to implement model updates and coordination changes
Coordinate with field superintendents to incorporate field driven adjustments and identify wall, slab, and roof openings required for installation
Review mechanical submittals for size, quantity, and design to ensure alignment with engineering specifications and available space
Revise coordination drawings as required, tracking and documenting revisions through clouding and numbering updates
Develop key plans identifying how the building will be segmented into coordination drawings and estimating time required to coordinate each area
Review architectural, structural, and mechanical construction drawings and specifications to understand system layouts and project requirements
Review project addenda and ensure all coordination drawings reflect design updates or specification changes
Reconcile equipment sizes and quantities prior to release for coordination or fabrication
Support the VDC and project teams with coordination documentation and model management throughout the construction process
Perform additional BIM, coordination, or project support duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience using Revit or CAD within mechanical, sheet metal, or plumbing construction environments
Experience supporting BIM coordination on commercial construction projects
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and mechanical system layouts
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination tools
Experience with Navisworks Manage or similar clash detection software preferred
Knowledge of hydronic and mechanical piping systems preferred
Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, field personnel, and other trade partners
Ability to manage multiple coordination areas and deadlines simultaneously
High School Diploma or GED required
Technical training or coursework in CAD, Revit, BIM modeling, or mechanical systems preferred
Ability to walk active construction job sites
Ability to climb ladders or access equipment as required during field coordination activities
Valid Driver's License required
