Automation Service Technician Job Description:

As a Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of our customers' automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial automation equipment, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), sensors, and other components.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and support teams to diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Install and configure automation systems, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
  • Perform system upgrades and software updates to keep systems up-to-date and optimized.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and prioritize tasks to minimize downtime and disruption to clients' operations.
  • Document all service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks in company system.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients' maintenance personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle routine operational tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute insights for continuous improvement in product design and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in industrial automation systems, with proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and associated control devices. Experience with PLC controlled equipment and understanding of variable frequency drives preferred.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions efficiently.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge: Solid understanding of electrical principles, mechanical components, and their interactions in automation systems.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in servicing and maintaining industrial automation systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and internal teams.
  • Customer Focus: Dedication to delivering exceptional service and exceeding client expectations.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Team Player: Demonstrated capacity to collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to team dynamics.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to maintaining accurate records and performing tasks with precision.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to client sites as required for installations, maintenance, and support. Up to 35% travel required.
