What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flex Coder III position at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center?
Responsible for assignment of appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis, ICD-10-PCS/CPT procedure codes, and abstracting statistical and reimbursement data for inpatient AND outpatient encounters.
Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Associates or Bachelors of HIM (preferred)
- Keyboarding/computer skills
- Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Process, and Pharmacology.
Previous Experience:
1. Computers and other office equipment
2. Combination of at least 5 years of Acute Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding experience or 2 years management experience with coding/auditing experience required
