Flex Coder III

Responsible for assignment of appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis, ICD-10-PCS/CPT procedure codes, and abstracting statistical and reimbursement data for inpatient AND outpatient encounters. 

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
   1. Associates or Bachelors of HIM (preferred)
2. Keyboarding/computer skills
3. Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required
4. Demonstrated working knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Process, and Pharmacology.

Previous Experience:

1.  Computers and other office equipment

2.  Combination of at least 5 years of Acute Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding experience or 2 years management experience with coding/auditing experience required
