Landscape Laborer

Thetford Landscaping & Irrigation — Breckenridge / Summit County, CO

• Employment type: Part-time or full-time
• Season: Seasonal, with the option for year-round work (winter snow mitigation)
• Compensation: $23–$28 per hour, depending on experience
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours; occasional weekends during peak season
• Reports to: Operations Manager

We build and maintain mountain properties — from custom hardscapes to irrigation systems built for high-country conditions. The Role:

As a Hardscape/Landscape Laborer you will assist in building outdoor living spaces including patios, walkways, outdoor kitchens, retaining walls, and more. You will operate the equipment required to complete each installation. This role also supports the mow, garden maintenance, and irrigation departments when needed. Year-round work is available through the winter for snow mitigation.

What You'll Do:

• Build hardscape features: paver and natural-stone patios, walkways, outdoor kitchens, and retaining walls, steps, and fire features
• Operate machinery and equipment — skid steers, mini excavators, plate compactors, and more
• Site prep: excavation, grading, base installation, and compaction
• Set, cut, and finish pavers, flagstone, and stone
• Load, haul, and move materials — pavers, stone, gravel, sand
• Keep worksites, trucks, trailers, and equipment clean, organized, and safe
• Assist the mow, garden maintenance, and irrigation departments when needed
• Winter (year-round option): snow plow and shoveling, christmas light installation

What We're Looking For:

Required:

• Hands-on experience building hardscapes — patios, outdoor kitchens, walls, and similar installs
• Experience operating landscape/construction machinery (skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, etc.)
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality — the crew counts on you showing up
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
• Comfortable working outdoors
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred:

• Mowing, garden maintenance, or irrigation experience (you'll cross into these departments)
• Snow removal / snow mitigation experience
• Clean driving record
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements:

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, sun, wind, and at elevation
• Safely operate hand tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery

Compensation & Benefits:

• Pay: $23–$28 per hour, based on experience
• Year-round opportunity: Option to continue through winter with snow mitigation work
• Benefits: Paid sick time, paid holidays, year-end bonuses

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
