You’ll help expand our product line presence, support customers with exceptional service, and open new doors across a variety of industries.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building relationships, enjoys uncovering opportunities, and loves the challenge of growing a territory with the support of a collaborative team.

What You’ll Do

As a Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Drive business growth and help meet (and exceed!) sales targets.
  • Build sales forecasts, analyze territory potential, and work with leadership to shape goals and quotas.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teammates to uncover opportunities within key EPC and Turnaround accounts across refining, chemical, and petrochemical markets.
  • Develop strong, long-lasting relationships with customers to understand their needs for shutdowns, turnarounds, and new construction.
  • Manage assigned customer accounts and ensure they receive top-tier support.
  • Deliver product presentations and training that showcase Thermon’s value.
  • Create and execute territory strategies designed to win.
  • Strengthen relationships across customers, representatives, and distributors.
  • Develop deep understanding of customer applications and processes to offer the best solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and insightful opportunity tracking in our CRM system.
  • Build connections within customer organizations to stay ahead of capital projects and MRO requirements.
  • Target and engage key decision-makers at multiple organizational levels, including:
  • Engineers, managers, operations leaders
  • EPCM organizations
  • Gas plants, refineries, petrochemical sites
  • OEMs and industrial distributors
  • Support estimating, proposal development, and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Negotiate sales agreements and drive successful outcomes.
  • Represent Thermon at industry trade shows and events.
  • Serve as a technical resource on our products and applications.
  • Promote a customer-first mindset and lead cross-selling efforts.
  • Manage an assigned expense budget.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned — we’re a team that supports each other.

What You Bring

We're looking for candidates who bring a mix of technical knowledge, customer focus, and a passion for sales success:

  • Strong ability to work independently while delivering measurable results.
  • A self‑starter with genuine motivation to grow a territory.
  • Proven success building multi‑level customer relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a natural ability to connect with others.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills — written and verbal.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and energetic personality.
  • Experience using CRM tools (Microsoft Dynamics is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable giving presentations and training groups.
  • A strong track record of sales success.
  • A true “hunter” mentality — you love opening new doors and creating new opportunities.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • A B.S. degree (Electrical Engineering preferred). Relevant experience as an Electrician or in power distribution rental/sales is also valuable.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management roles with direct sales responsibilities.
  • Experience working with refining and petrochemical plants or project environments (construction experience is a plus).
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex electrical distribution scenarios to engineering teams.
  • Strong comfort in client‑facing roles and presenting technical solutions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across the U.S.
