JOB SUMMARY:
The Materials & Inventory Specialist maintains accurate material flow, inventory integrity, and forward-looking visibility to material needs across multiple manufacturing sites. This role includes inter-site inventory movements, shortage reporting, ship-loose coordination for key accounts, material issuance to production, and inventory performance analysis. Ensures ERP system accuracy, proactive material insight, and cross-functional alignment with Purchasing, Planning, and Operations. Site Inventory Supervisors handle physical receiving and receipt transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process and manage inventory movement transactions between facilities, ensuring accurate quantities, locations, and timing.
- Monitor inventory balances across sites and coordinate transfers to support production priorities.
- Ensure inter-site movements are accurately reflected in the ERP system to maintain real-time visibility for Planning and Purchasing.
- Own and maintain the Shortage Report, ensuring accuracy and regular updates.
- Align material availability and inter-site transfers against the production schedule and backlog.
- Communicate material risks, constraints, and recovery actions proactively to Production, Purchasing, and Supply Chain leadership.
- Work closely with scheduling to maintain a forward-looking view of material requirements based on production schedules and backlog.
- Provide Purchasing with clear direction and recommendations on upcoming material needs, risks, and timing.
- Highlight potential shortages or constraints early to enable proactive procurement and mitigation actions.
- Support materials planning discussions with data-driven insights (without owning PO placement or forecast decisions).
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including inter-site transfer variances and system mismatches.
- Support cycle counts and inventory audits in partnership with site Inventory Supervisors.
- Perform root-cause analysis on shortages, inventory variances, and recurring material issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong attention to detail with high standards for data accuracy.
- Experience in inventory management, materials control, or manufacturing supply chain roles.
- Working knowledge of ERP or inventory management systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze and present inventory data.
- Ability to manage cross-site priorities and multiple material flows simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Manufacturing or industrial materials experience.
- Experience managing multi-site inventory or inter-facility transfers.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar workflow/tracking tools.
- Experience in preparing inventory metrics or KPI reporting.
