The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Control Systems Project Engineer II to lead complex automation and controls projects from design through commissioning. You’ll take technical ownership of system design, integration, and client delivery while mentoring others and driving best practices in safety, quality, and performance. What You’ll Do
- Lead and execute control system design, programming, and commissioning (PLC/HMI/SCADA).
- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and oversee field start-up and integration.
- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and system drawings, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS) and project specifications.
- Collaborate with customers and subcontractors to manage scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide technical direction to junior engineers and serve as the client’s main point of contact.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining documentation and progress reports.
What You Bring
- Education: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or related technical field).
- Experience: 4 years in control systems engineering with at least 2 years in a lead role.
- Technical Expertise:
- PLC/HMI/SCADA development (Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent platforms)
- Strong understanding of instrumentation, control networks, and IT/OT integration
- Field commissioning and troubleshooting proficiency
- Soft Skills: Strong communicator, organized, proactive problem-solver, and customer-focused.
Travel & Work Requirements
- Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) for project sites, commissioning, and FATs.
- Proof of work authorization in the U.S. required.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and remain fit for duty at all times.
