Fabrication Technician

Utility Crane & Equipment, based in Tolleson with its sister company, Force TK, is a dealership that primarily builds and services aerial bucket trucks. Work setting: In-person

Hours: Typical schedule will be Monday - Thursday, 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.. Overtime may be required. Schedule when on overtime will be Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m..

Job Description:

• Perform  quality welding per customer and company specifications.
• Fabricate subframes, hitch packages, and assemblies required for the mounting of truck bodies, aerial devices, service cranes, and/or other utility equipment.
• Read shop instructions, order steel, communicate with supervisors and other techs.
• Prepare trucks for additional upfit as necessary. Inspect work during and after fabrication to ensure quality.
• Conduct tasks with precision, ensuring all work meets industry standards, client expectations and most safety rules.
• Ensure trucks have been completely fabricated to customer spec prior to sending out for paint.
• Maintain and promote a safe working environment and maintain appropriate housekeeping standards within department
• Position has three levels, Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, based on experience.
• Other duties as assigned by Production Manager

Qualifications

• Knowledge of various hand tools and equipment
• Strong communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to complete assignments
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
• Advanced welding skills.  Must be certified or able to be certified in the following weld processes and positions: FCAW and GMAW: 1F, 2F, 3F, 4F, 1G, 2G, 3G, & 4G.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
• Will need to be able to drive a forklift. Certification for forklift is completed through the company.

Position includes stooping, bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing into trailer, ladder usage, lifting up to 70 pounds, use of provided ear protection in a sometimes-noisy environment and safety glasses.  Safety shoes are required to work in this position. A shoe allowance is provided for safety shoes. The work environment is open to the outdoor environment.
