JOB SUMMARY:

The Casting Quality Technician is responsible for performing and documenting quality control testing
on freshly mixed concrete in accordance with ASTM standards and Thermo Bond procedures. This
position ensures concrete deliveries to casting operations meets quality requirements through
sampling, testing, specimen preparation, documentation, and equipment maintenance. The Casting
Quality Technician works closely with Casting, Production, and Quality personnel to support product
quality, process compliance, and customer satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Casting Quality Technician must be able to accurately perform ASTM concrete testing procedures,

maintain detailed records, perform mathematical calculations, follow written and verbal instructions,

and work independently with minimal supervision. The employee must demonstrate strong attention

to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety and quality standards

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• None

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform concrete sampling in accordance with ASTM C172

• Perform concrete temperature testing in accordance with ASTM C1064.

• Perform slump testing in accordance with ASTM C143.

• Perform density and yield testing in accordance with ASTM C138.

• Perform air content testing using the volumetric method in accordance with ASTM C173.

• Prepare, label, cure, transport, and document concrete test cylinders in accordance with

ASTM C31.

• Read and understand blueprints.

• Maintain testing equipment in clean and serviceable condition.

• Verify testing equipment calibration and notify management when calibration, repairs, or

replacement are required.

• Complete calculations related to density, yield, relative yield, air content, and other quality

measurements.

• Maintain accurate and complete testing records and reports

• Adhere to all TBB safety standards and wear all required PPE.

• High safety considerations.

• Work irregular hours and overtime when required.

• Bring a positive attitude each day.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES

The Casting Quality Technician is expected to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a

strong focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. The employee must:

• Read, understand, and follow ASTM standards, company procedures, and technical

documents.

• Accurately record and communicate test results.

• Perform basic mathematical calculations and data analysis.

• Operate testing equipment safely and correctly.

• Troubleshoot testing issues and identify nonconforming conditions.

• Maintain strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

• Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

• Effectively manage multiple priorities and meet testing deadlines

TRAVEL, HOURS OF WORK, & SUPERVISION:

This position normally requires the individual to be physically present at one or more Thermo Bond

manufacturing locations Monday through Friday as deemed necessary. Occasional travel between

facilities may be required to support testing activities, audits, training, or quality initiatives. This position

reports to the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• 0-24 months in manufacturing and/or concrete experience, preferred.

• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I Certification preferred.

• ASTM Concrete Testing Certification preferred.

• Valid driver's license preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (including but not limited to):

• Regularly able to work a 12-hour shift standing/walking.

• Regularly able to climb ladders repetitively.

• Regularly able to bend, crouch, twist, pull.

• Regularly able to lift/carry 80 lbs.

• Regularly able to work at a desk for short periods of time.

• Regularly able to work in all types of weather.
