SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Therapist position at Therapy Solutions is responsible for working with clients in a mental health outpatient setting. This position will work with individuals, families and couples to promote optimum mental health. May assist clients dealing with family, marital, parenting, suicide, stress, self-esteem, aging, anxiety, trauma and depression issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide counseling to individuals, couples and families, to assist them in adjusting to life changes.
- Assist clients to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
- Guide clients in the development and implementation of skills and strategies for dealing with their issues and concerns.
- Advocate on client’s behalf in order to coordinate required services or to resolve crisis situations.
- Refer clients and/or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on, but not limited to, clinical experience, knowledge and information gathered from the intake.
- Modify treatment and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in clients’ status.
- Evaluate clients’ physical or mental health using required intake form, completing a genogram and gaining input from the client regarding their goals.
- Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Continue to evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling method and clients’ progress.
- Discharge clients when clinically necessary and discuss plans with clients.
- Knowledge of and skill in applying ethical treatment modalities.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment, in accordance with HIPAA.
- Knowledge of oral and written reporting.
- Remain up to date on emerging research in the field.
- Offer to provide Faith Based counseling and have a faithfulness to Catholic/Christian teachings on morals and the Human Person
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree or equivalent of in one of the following areas of study; Social Work, Counseling or Clinical Psychologist.
- Licensed to practice in the state of North Dakota or eligible to be licensed as one of the following:
- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
- LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor)
- LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
- LAPC (Licensed Associate Professional Counselor)
