Overview
The Client Service Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting clients receiving outpatient mental health services. This position functions similarly to a case management role, serving as a primary point of contact for clients while helping coordinate care, services, and resources throughout their treatment journey. The Client Service Coordinator works closely with clients, clinicians, and external providers to ensure services are accessible, organized, and responsive to each client’s needs.
This role requires a compassionate, organized, and client-centered individual who is comfortable working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges and, at times, co-occurring substance use disorders. The Client Service Coordinator helps promote engagement, continuity of care, and positive outcomes by supporting clients both administratively and relationally.
Duties
- Serve as a primary liaison between clients and the treatment team, providing ongoing support and coordination of services
- Assist clients with navigating outpatient mental health services, including scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
- Support intake and onboarding processes, ensuring clients understand services, expectations, and available resources
- Coordinate care with internal staff and, when appropriate, external providers or community resources
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to client services and coordination activities
- Support client engagement by addressing barriers to care such as attendance, communication, or access to services
- Provide general support and problem-solving for client needs while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Communicate with empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethical standards, and all applicable policies and regulations
Experience
- Previous experience in case management, client services, care coordination, or a related role preferred
- Experience working in mental health, behavioral health, social services, or substance use treatment settings is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with outpatient mental health services and community-based resources is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing mental health challenges and possible co-occurring substance use
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and electronic records
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a human services–related field preferred
