Summary
Theory Wellness is a vertically integrated, multi-state cannabis operator with a production facility in Waterville, Maine that drives the full output of our Maine market. We are seeking an experienced Processing Manager to lead our post-harvest processing operation. This role owns the quality and execution of everything that happens between harvest and packaged finished goods, and the team that makes it happen.
The Processing Manager is a critical leadership role at the Waterville facility, responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards while driving throughput, team performance, and cross-functional alignment with compliance, logistics, and supply chain partners.
Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
- Own all quality standards for processed flower and finished goods, ensuring product meets or exceeds internal benchmarks and state regulatory requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce SOPs across processing operations; conduct regular audits to ensure adherence.
- Serve as the department’s primary point of accountability for compliance with Maine cannabis regulations, including METRC accuracy and testing workflows.
- Partner with the Compliance team to resolve any quality or regulatory issues quickly and completely.
- Monitor environmental conditions, curing processes, and post-harvest handling to protect product integrity at every stage.
Flower Processing Operations
- Oversee all post-harvest processing activities including trim, cure, buck, and pre-processing for packaging.
- Manage production schedules to ensure consistent throughput aligned with demand planning and finished goods targets.
- Ensure dry room operations, batch tracking, and processing documentation are accurate and up-to-date.
- Identify and drive continuous process improvements that reduce waste, improve yield, and increase efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
- Directly manage a team of 5-10 production staff, including the Pre Roll & Processing Supervisor.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Lead hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training for processing team members.
- Foster a positive, accountable team culture aligned with Theory’s values.
Inventory & Systems Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records across all processing stages using Dutchie and METRC.
- Ensure batch records, production logs, and transfer documentation are complete and compliant.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations on finished goods readiness and production pipeline status.
- Proactively flag inventory risks, input shortages, or production constraints.
Vendor & Supply Coordination
- Manage vendor relationships relevant to processing operations, including supplies, consumables, and service providers.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain on reorder timing, lead times, and cost management.
- Evaluate vendor performance and escalate issues as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing a production or processing team in a regulated, fast-paced environment
- Strong working knowledge of quality standards, SOP development, and compliance documentation
- Experience with cannabis inventory tracking systems (METRC, Dutchie, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- At least 21 years of age
- No drug-related felony; ability to pass a comprehensive background check
Preferred
- Previous cannabis industry experience, particularly in post-harvest processing
- Experience managing vendor relationships and supply coordination
- Familiarity with Maine cannabis regulations
