Summary:
Theory Wellness operates state of the art cannabis cultivation and dispensing facilities in Massachusetts. We are seeking enthusiastic retail leader candidates to support the day-to-day operations in our dispensaries. This role will be an expansion role where You will be responsible for the overall success of the Massachusetts & New Jersey retail markets.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Massachusetts and New Jersey retail locations, ensuring exceptional execution across human capital, operations, compliance, and customer experience.
- Recruit, hire, coach, and develop high-performing Dispensary and Delivery Managers, building strong teams equipped to meet the demands of a fast-growing, multi-state cannabis organization.
- Drive sales performance by activating store teams around revenue goals, KPI attainment, and disciplined accountability frameworks.
- Ensure all retail facilities consistently follow standardized policies, procedures, and SOPs while maintaining full compliance with state and local cannabis regulations.
- Contribute to the design, layout, and experiential delivery of Theory’s retail stores, ensuring that newbuilds and remodels reflect brand standards and operational efficiency.
- Oversee new store openings, expansions, and construction timelines in partnership with cross-functional teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Partner with the VP of Retail and inventory teams to ensure accurate forecasting, supply chain flow, and efficient product movement across all retail locations.
- Collaborate closely with Store Managers to achieve and exceed sales, service, labor, and operational objectives for each location.
- Monitor inventory health, staffing levels, scheduling efficiency, and operational performance to maximize productivity and store profitability.
- Partner with the VP of Retail and Finance to build, manage, and review store budgets, with accountability for P&L performance across the district.
- Support long-term market expansion and growth strategies, contributing insights on new opportunities, competitive dynamics, and organizational scalability.
- Work with the Marketing team to implement promotional campaigns, product launches, and customer engagement initiatives that drive traffic and conversion.
- Partner closely with Human Resources to foster a strong culture, strengthen leadership capability, and support employee engagement, retention, and compliance.
- Champion operational excellence, people development, and a customer-first mindset across all teams.
- Perform additional duties as required in a fast-paced, evolving retail and regulatory environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of multi-unit or high-volume store leadership, consistently delivering strong operational and financial performance.
- Proven success overseeing large teams, including hiring, coaching, and developing leaders at scale. Demonstrated experience operating stores exceeding ten million dollars in annual sales volume.
- Direct accountability for managing teams of ten or more employees within a single location or business unit.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the district, including regular overnight stays.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where agility, urgency, and clear communication are crucial.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions quickly under pressure. Strong competency in retail systems, POS platforms, inventory software, and general computer applications.

- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners, store leaders, and frontline teams.

- Must be at least 21 years of age and compliant with all state-mandated employment requirements.
- Must have no drug-related felony convictions and be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
