Role Summary

The Operations Manager oversees daily warehouse and production activities to ensure exhibits are packed accurately, shipped on time, and supported at the show site when needed. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring expertise in custom exhibit production, logistics, team coordination, with knowledge of modular systems such as Aluvision and B-Matrix. You will work closely with our CEO, COO, and project managers to strengthen systems, implement standard operating procedures, and improve efficiency and quality across our operations. This role leads a diverse operations team, advances process improvements, and builds structure that supports the company’s continued growth.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead warehouse personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting quarterly performance reviews with executive leadership
  • Foster a professional, respectful work environment and model consistent, high-standard communication
  • Promote accountability by setting clear expectations and providing timely performance feedback
  • Effectively address employee concerns and escalate issues to C-level leadership when appropriate
  • Strategically assign team members to booth builds; ensure new hires are trained and mentored by experienced staff
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess workload, adjust schedules, and manage temporary staffing levels during high-volume periods
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently met


Production Oversight & Job Execution

  • Manage multiple booth packing and builds simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Review and prep job folders; ensure early and accurate distribution to prevent production delays
  • Lead problem-solving on complex builds; train staff on efficient booth assembly, lighting, AV integration, and cable management
  • Supervise custom fabrication and onsite installation of exhibit booths
  • Implement SOPs to improve consistency, efficiency, and reduce rework
  • Coordinate material ordering and vendor communication for custom fabrication pieces
  • Conduct final quality checks on all outbound shipments and exhibit components


Inventory & Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory and implement systems to track low-stock items and forecast material needs
  • Prevent overselling by tracking available frames, components, and modular system inventory
  • Inspect items for damage; perform repairs or coordinate replacements as needed
  • Oversee custom refurbishments including carpentry, lamination, and finishing work
  • Optimize warehouse layout to improve space efficiency and production flow
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and maintain overall material readiness


Quality Control & Damage Prevention

  • Train team members on safe handling and packing techniques to prevent damage during shipping and installation
  • Reinforce best practices during teardown to minimize loss and protect components
  • Investigate recurring damage issues and identify root causes (e.g., hardware failure, incorrect end caps)
  • Oversee in-house bench testing of custom-fabricated items before delivery to show site


Show Site Supervision

  • Provide hands-on leadership on the show floor to uphold quality standards during installation and dismantle
  • Address issues in real time, ensuring booths are completed professionally and client expectations are met
  • Coordinate with union labor, reinforcing pacing, timelines, and quality standards
  • Support senior staff during peak volume shows and ensure build consistency across events


Process Improvement & SOP Development

  • Develop, refine, and implement SOPs across warehouse, production, and inventory areas
  • Improve workflows, handoffs, checklists, and operational communication
  • Build scalable systems that support higher production volume and organizational growth


Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse, production, or operations management
  • At least 2 years in the trade show, exhibits, scenic, or events industry
  • Hands-on experience with Aluvision and/or B-Matrix systems
  • Proficient in inventory control, logistics, scheduling, and warehouse operations
  • Skilled in basic carpentry, graphic application, AV setup, and use of hand/power tools
  • Experience leading teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a high-volume environment
  • Computer literacy (Excel, inventory systems, job tracking tools)
  • Forklift experience and ability to operate a 24’ truck
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record


Preferred

  • Experience managing union labor
  • Familiarity with convention center logistics
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience with Monday.com or Google Workspace


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the workday
  • Requires bending, reaching, climbing, and regular use of hand tools in a warehouse setting
  • Must be able to work in varying warehouse temperatures


Working Conditions

  • Warehouse-based, hands-on role
  • Requires occasional early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or overtime during peak show periods
  • Some travel may be required for show site supervision
  • Peak season typically runs January through June


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: 70,000 to 95,000 per year. Higher compensation possible for highly qualified candidates
