We are seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) within a precision machine shop environment serving the aerospace, medical device, and industrial sectors. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring direct involvement on the shop floor, ownership of inspections, root cause analysis, audit readiness, and customer quality communication.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Ownership
- Develop, implement, and maintain QMS compliant with ISO 9001 / AS9100
- Maintain audit readiness and lead internal audits
- Manage document control, procedures, and work instructions
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections
- Create inspection plans, control plans, and sampling methods
- Ensure calibration and proper use of inspection equipment
- Support First Article Inspections and PPAP submissions
- Lead root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
- Own CAPA process and drive closure of non-conformances
- Track quality trends and implement systemic improvements
- Primary contact for customer audits and quality issues
- Work closely with suppliers to improve quality performance
- Reduce scrap, rework, and defects through data-driven initiatives
- Promote a culture of quality and accountability across the shop floor
- Track KPIs such as PPM, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery impact
- Provide regular quality performance reports to leadership
- Supervise and mentor quality inspectors and technicians
- Train staff on quality standards and procedures
- Experience managing QMS in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 standards
- Hands-on inspection experience with gauges and measurement tools
- Experience with root cause analysis and CAPA
- Customer audit and supplier quality experience preferred
- Leadership experience managing small quality teams
