Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Day Care Bus Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of children to and from daycare facilities. This vital role involves operating passenger vehicles with a focus on safety, customer service, and adherence to traffic laws. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for working with children. As a key part of our team, you will help create a positive and secure environment for young passengers while maintaining efficient transportation schedules.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or specialized vehicles to transport children to and from daycare locations.
• Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to ensure passenger safety at all times.
• Assist children with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including wheelchair assistance when necessary, ensuring proper child safety seat usage.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking mechanical systems, brakes, lights, and emergency equipment to maintain vehicle readiness.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, road conditions, or emergencies during transit.
• Maintain discipline and manage behavior onboard to promote a safe and respectful environment for children.
• Communicate effectively with parents, daycare staff, and emergency responders as needed, demonstrating excellent customer service skills.

Skills

• Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with knowledge of transportation safety regulations.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport; familiarity with school policy knowledge is preferred.
• Strong understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, emergency response procedures for transportation, and vehicle codes.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting children or handling equipment; mechanical knowledge is a plus for basic vehicle maintenance checks.
• Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse communities.
• Knowledge of child behavior management and childcare practices to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
• CPR and first aid certification; training in emergency stop procedures and accident prevention is highly desirable.
• Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations while maintaining composure under pressure.
