What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd Shift Youth Care Worker Full Time position at The Youth Service Bureau of Jay County, Inc.?
Full-time, 3rd shift position available working in a residential setting. Will be working with youth ages 10-19. Applicant must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license and be insurable. Prefer a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other related human service field, but will accept resumes with a high school diploma or GED. Applicants with food preparation experience preferred. Minimum starting pay $15 per hour. and shift differential pay. Full time staff receives PTO and health benefits.
Applicants must be willing to participate as a member of a team, hold youth accountable for behaviors, possess skills in re-direction and crisis intervention, follow specific rules/guidelines, and be able to think quickly on their feet. Applicants should expect to be on their feet for the majority of shifts worked attending to the numerous responsibilities of the position. Applicants must be able to role model appropriate behavior and socially accepted interaction 100% of the time. Applicants must be able to mentor the youth in care and develop appropriate and effective rapport with the youth in care. EOE.
Typically, Thursday – Saturday, 11:00 pm – 8:30am & Wednesday 8:30 am - 5:00pm
(Position requires irregular work hours. May be scheduled for holidays)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Maintain general supervision of residents and related activities at all times to ensure cohesiveness within the environment and among all residents
· Assist residents in coping with out of home placement (i.e. addressing separation issues)
· Preparation of meals and snacks for residents
· Coordinate menu planning/dietary needs of residents with Purchasing Agent
· Ensure proper storage of all food and supplies
· Complete weekly inventory of all supplies and food items
· Complete inventory worksheet each week and turn into housekeeping Monday morning by 8am
· Complete grocery list by Monday at 8am each week and turn into housekeeping
· Complete bed checks on each resident every 15 minutes throughout the shift
· Check all washers and dryers each night, complete laundry as necessary
· Supervise and instruct residents in basic living skills such as personal hygiene, proper attire, eating habits, care of clothing, and completion of all personal and household chores
· Attend weekly staff meeting
· Assist in implementation of individualized treatment program per therapist’s instructions
· Maintain accurate documentation with regard to daily log, medication records, daily chores inspection, daily assessment forms, incident reports, grievance forms, and all other records which note each resident’s behavior and attitude while in residence, as applicable and in accordance with state regulations and accreditation standards
· Provide appropriate variety of disciplines as needed for infractions as necessitated
· Safely drive 15 passenger van, other agency vehicles, and personal vehicle
· Have current certification in First Aid and CPR
· Serve as an appropriate role model in physical appearance, social skills, and daily interaction with co-workers and residents
· Participate in a minimum of 20 hours of training each year
· Assist in orientation and direct training of new personnel
· Take information on telephone call from placing agency on potential placements and relay information to Case Manager for approval
· Responsible to clean inside and outside cabinets and refrigerator each week
