POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. General administration of Before and After School Enrichment (BASE), Summer Day Camp, Fun & Snow Day programs. This position works directly with support staff to ensure all programs meet and exceed expectations. This position must understand Y member engagement strategies, fundraising, and new program development. The director will incorporate caring, honesty, faith, respect and responsibility into all aspects of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Create a vibrant cause-centered culture for staff and volunteers.
  2. Oversee Before and After School Education (BASE) programs including multiple off-site locations, days off school, day camp, and snow day programs. Develops curriculum and lessons to meet or exceed school content standards, orders materials and supplies, and maintains relationships with school leaders.
  3. Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, coach and evaluate staff. Lead and supervise the assistant child care director. Plan and conduct monthly staff meetings.
  4. Stay current with State Licensing requirements and meet standards set by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
  5. Create and facilitate informational materials and brochures as needed for promotional and public relations used in conjunction with branch marketing plans.
  6. Uses techniques and strategies for involving members and guests as volunteers. Implement Parent Volunteer committee.
  7. Seek member/participant feedback through regular participant evaluations.  Implement corrective strategies as needed.
  8. Supports the philanthropic efforts of the YMCA’s the Annual Giving Campaign.
  9. Develops, administers and controls all program department budgets to meet or exceed budget targets. Work continually to secure new funding sources. Responsible for collections and following our collection policy.
  10. Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep and organization of all areas, including off site locations.
  11. Actively participate in the planning process for the branch.
  12. Monitors child payment records, purchasing procedures, financial aid, Publicly Funded Childcare, USDA, daily attendance, volunteer database, volunteer hours, staff records and payroll.
  13. Ensure the safety of staff, members, and program participants using resources from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, our  Property and Liability Insurance provider, and other applicable risk management partners.
  14. Maintain and actively foster positive relationships with parents, children, stakeholders, Ohio Department of Children and Youth, and YMCA staff.
  15. Actively participate in the ECE focus group (monthly meetings) and branch leadership staff team (bi-weekly meetings). This includes supporting team projects, active participation in groups, and other assignments as delegated by supervisor.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | ABUSE PREVENTION:

Upholding the YMCA’s commitment to the safety and well-being of youth in our programs is a core responsibility of all staff regardless of position.

  1. Attend required abuse risk management training.
  2. Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk according to policies and procedures.
  3. Train, supervise, and require adherence of employees and volunteers to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  4. Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback about boundaries with consumers.
  5. Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations.
  6. Respond quickly and seriously to all reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  7. Communicate the YMCA’s commitment to abuse prevention.
  8. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified as an administrator for childcare programs in accordance with ODJFS.
  • Degree in child development or related field preferred.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must be able to provide a copy of High school diploma, a completed medical form (JFS 01296) and undergo a BCI/FBI background check prior to first day of work. 
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse Prevention are required to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be committed to YMCA mission, values and philanthropic efforts.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
