Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program/Sports Director, the Sports Instructor teaches all assigned Sports classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality of programs. Responsible for creating learning opportunities for specific sports programs for ages preschool through adult.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to demonstrate and explain basic sports skills that are being taught.
• Must be able to work at the learning level of particular class.
• Prepares teaching area with necessary equipment and the returns equipment to proper storage area when class is complete.
• Works with individuals and groups within a class structure to enable all to correct faults, improve self-image, and progress their abilities.
• Keeps class attendance records.
• Follows designated curriculum for classes to ensure basic components are met and set standards for progression are followed.

It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
