Position Summary
Under the direction of the Regional Swim Director, the Pre Lifeguard associate is responsible for successfully completing all required training and certifications to become a certified lifeguard. This position is also responsible for assisting with safety, cleanliness and operation of the swimming pool during operating hours. The primary function of the Pre- Lifeguard associate will be general support to maintain safety for our members on the pool deck.

Essential Functions
- Focus on quality experiences and engagement within programs, services, and activities
- Must have understanding of the age and stages of youth development, and work with children
- Support communication between associates and members/parents
- Informing proper leaders of operating challenges, equipment/supply needs, and/or conflicts during operating hours (either with members and/or associates)
- Enforces Y in Central Maryland policies, guidelines, and best practices
- Encourage member engagement and outstanding member experience
- Foster an environment that is positive and motivating to families, children, and peers.
- Effectively coordinate facility usage for assigned programs and activities
- Supports center’s annual support campaign and provide leadership support to associate giving and engagement
- Ability to work with diverse population, all ages, genders, and sexual orientations
- Attend and actively participate in all meetings as assigned
- Incorporate the four character values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and adhere to the YCM Code of Conduct
- Communicate the Y mission and objectives to the community.
- Assist in all other areas as assigned.
