POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Program or Sports Director, the Archery Instructor teaches assigned archery classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality and safety of programs. The instructor is responsible for creating engaging learning opportunities that teach archery fundamentals, safety practices, and skill progression for participants ranging from youth to adults. The Archery Instructor ensures that all activities are conducted in a safe, structured, and supportive environment while promoting the YMCA mission and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Demonstrates and teaches fundamental archery skills including stance, aiming, shooting technique, and range safety.

Ensures all participants understand and follow archery range safety procedures at all times.

Prepares the archery range and teaching area with appropriate equipment before classes and ensures all equipment is properly stored after use.

Maintains archery equipment including bows, arrows, targets, and range materials to ensure safe operation.

Works with individuals and groups within a class structure to correct technique, improve confidence, and support skill progression.

Adapts instruction to the learning level and experience of each class or participant group.

Keeps accurate class attendance records and communicates with program leadership as needed.

Follows the designated YMCA curriculum and program guidelines to ensure consistent program quality and progression.
QUALIFICATIONS

USA Archery Level 1 Instructor certification or higher (or equivalent certification).

Strong knowledge of archery range operations and equipment maintenance.

Ability to effectively teach archery fundamentals to participants of varying ages and skill levels.
