Our client, a successful contemporary womens apparel brand, is in search of a full time Technical Designer specializing in sweaters. This vital role offers the opportunity to blend creativity with technical expertise, ensuring our sweater collections are both innovative and flawless.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to develop and refine sweater styles from a technical standpoint
- Prepare detailed technical packages, including size specs, construction details, and fit criteria.
- Conduct fittings, troubleshoot design and construction issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and communicate critical information clearly across teams.
- Stay updated on current trends and incorporate them into technical developments.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer, preferably in knitwear or sweaters.
- Strong knowledge of sweater construction, fabrics, and knitting techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent technical and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working with sustainable or innovative fabrics.
- Knowledge of pattern making and grading.
- Familiarity with international sourcing and manufacturing standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical design role within the apparel industry.
Other Requirements:
- This position is primarily onsite with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote per week.
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
