Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC)
Reports to Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Student Personnel Services
Qualifications
1. Valid New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) certification
issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.
2. Master’s Degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
3. Comprehensive understanding of federal and state special education regulations,
including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and New Jersey
Administrative Code (N.J.A.C. 6A:14).
4. Demonstrated ability to administer, interpret, and apply results from a range of
standardized and non-standardized assessment tools to identify and support student
needs.
5. Proven capacity to collaborate effectively with students, families, and educators.
6. Strong analytical, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
7. Demonstrated excellence in data-informed decision-making and development of
individualized learning strategies.
8. Maintains professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
9. Any alternative qualifications as approved by the Board of Education, except where
certification is required.
Position Goal
To provide comprehensive assessment, consultation, and collaborative support services that
inform effective instruction and intervention strategies for students with or at risk for
learning disabilities.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Serve as a key member of the Child Study Team in evaluating students and
developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with district goals
and state standards.
2. Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and related service providers to
support the implementation of IEPs and evidence-based instructional practices.
3. Facilitate CST and parent meetings to interpret assessment results, guide educational
planning, and ensure understanding of student needs and services.
4. Provide teachers with diagnostic insights and instructional recommendations for
supporting diverse learners.
Lead and coordinate CST meetings, ensuring timely communication and
documentation.
6. Partner with resource and special education teachers to design, implement, and
monitor targeted instructional interventions.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum frameworks, intervention
methodologies, and assistive technologies to adapt learning experiences for individual
student needs.
8. Serve as a case manager for assigned students, maintaining accurate and confidential
records, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with timelines.
Terms of Employment: Ten-month position. Compensation and benefits to be determined by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Education.
