Job Description:
Are you an experienced accounting professional seeking a new career home? IVM Chemicals is looking for a full-time Accounting Specialist to join our team in Glendale Heights, IL. This position plays a vital role in managing our financial operations through SAP, ensuring tax compliance, supporting reporting obligations, and maintaining accurate accounting records. While primarily focused on accounting, this role also includes limited administrative and operational support when needed, acting as a backup for the Sales Office.
Responsibilities: The candidate must:
Manage day-to-day financial accounting operations in SAP, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Enter journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and reversals, and maintain recurring entry templates
Reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts monthly and support financial closing cycles
Record incoming and outgoing payments, interest income, and expenses; perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
Process invoices, credit and debit memos, and customer payments in SAP; investigate discrepancies and follow up on outstanding balances
Maintain and update customer and vendor master data in SAP
Enter and reconcile vendor invoices and employee expenses; schedule payments and manage vendor communications
Track fixed asset acquisitions and disposals, calculate depreciation, and reconcile related accounts
Maintain organized financial records and liaise with external service providers as needed
Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including sales/use, property, and franchise tax returns, and submit statistical declarations
Support budget and forecasting cycles and assist in preparing monthly reports, financial packages, and annual financial statements
Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal financial procedures
Assist with internal audits, contract tracking, and compliance deadlines
Serve as a backup for the Sales Office Operator when necessary, including order entry, order fulfillment, shipping documentation, and customer inquiries
Sign for and log registered mail as authorized
Make bank and post office runs and coordinate office supply purchases
Maintain well-organized physical and digital filing systems
Requirements: The candidate will:
Have 3 years of experience in accounting and administration (SAP experience strongly preferred)
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax reporting requirements
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of discretion when handling sensitive information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Preferred Experience:
Background in manufacturing or distribution environments
Familiarity with customs documentation or logistics
Experience supporting sales or customer service operations
