What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at The Woodstock Academy?
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Full-Time
The successful candidate will:
- Promote 21stcentury educational excellence through the vigorous support of the mission and goals of The Woodstock Academy; and
- Facilitate individual, departmental and school excellence through the support of high quality personnel, reinforcement of best instructional practices, encouragement of a culture of collaboration and a focus on learning.
Minimum qualifications:
- Connecticut 165 certification, or eligibility for Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP);
- Co-teaching experience preferred;
- Demonstrated excellence/experience working with special needs population, including, but not limited to, knowledge of special education regulations and the IEP process;
- Demonstrated excellence in secondary school instruction and differentiation;
- Proficiency with the use of instructional technology, and familiarity with a block schedule;
- Demonstrated excellence in human relations;
- As part of our encouragement of a culture of collaboration, any other additional educational and/or athletic related certifications or licensing preferred;
- Positive attitude, integrity, collaboration skills, cooperative attitude, and a sense of humor essential; and
Cultural proficiency and the ability to integrate and promote teamwork through the assimilation of diverse perspectives, worldviews, values, experiences, and beliefs.
