As part of this ecosystem, The Upchurch Group plays a critical role in supporting financial operations across the business. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper who will take ownership of day-to-day accounting functions while contributing to the financial health and operational success of the organization.
What You’ll Do
This role is central to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting leadership with timely, reliable reporting.
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Process and manage vendor invoices, payments, and expense reports
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9 compliance
- Reconcile credit cards, petty cash, and internal funds
Accounts Receivable & Cash Management
- Record and reconcile incoming payments and bank activity
- Manage deposits and customer statements
- Follow up on outstanding receivables
Invoicing & Project Billing
- Prepare client invoices in coordination with project managers
- Support Time & Material, percentage-complete, and agency-based billing (IDOT, Tollway, etc.)
- Ensure accurate job costing and expense allocation
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for leadership
- Assist with accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Maintain internal dashboards and reporting tools
Compliance & Annual Reporting
- Prepare 1099 reporting and support year-end close
- Assist with audits, insurance renewals, and compliance filings
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with TWG Finance on reporting and process improvements
- Provide backup support for administrative and office functions as needed
What You Bring
- 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a project-based or professional services environment
- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations
- Experience with accounting software (Quicken preferred) and Excel
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Compensation & Benefits
Good Faith Salary Range: The annual starting salary for this position is between $50,000 to $60,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
