What are the responsibilities and job description for the O&P TECHNICIAN position at The West Texas Rehabilitation Center?
Fabricates, repairs, and maintains various orthotic and prosthetic devices, according to specifications and under the direction of the practitioner. These devices are used for the treatment of disabled, injured, or diseased patients. Assists with maintaining supplies.
- Produces orthotic devices and establishes their fabrication according to the orthotist’s design.
- Safely uses and maintains equipment, such as drill press, grinder, sander, buffer, shoe finisher, air compressor, and other equipment within the department.
- Applies orthopedic corrections to shoes, such as wedges, pads, build-ups, and orthoses.
- Blends, shapes, welds, and saws metal or plastic orthotic structural components to conform to measurements.
- Carries out other tasks or duties as required by the Practitioners
- Follows all established safety procedures and precautions.
- Ensures lab and patient rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patient services.
- Ensures equipment is clean and ready for use.
- Assists department secretary as necessary.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
