What Your Day Looks Like
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Accountant position will have an active role in monthly reporting and analysis, annual audit processes, ad hoc reporting and the budgeting process while providing support to the financial reporting & analysis team. This role will serve a wide range of subsidiaries of The Wenger Group as part of a shared accounting services group at headquarters.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and post period end journal entries as part of the financial close process. Review and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts each fiscal period.
- Perform variance analysis for variances from budget and provide explanations.
- Pull monthly bank reports, complete bank reconciliation for the period and work closely with AP to provide information on outstanding checks.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements for period end.
- Provide support during the annual budget process, including collecting, reviewing and reporting budget information.
- Ensure procedures are documented and updated regularly.
- Assist in collection and preparation of documentation requested for the annual outside audit and tax preparation.
- Provide backup and assistance for other positions and perform additional responsibilities within the department as requested.
- File monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings as needed for various authorities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as directed by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAPP.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel and JD Edwards or other ERP system.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team and with all levels of the organization.
- Growth mindset and ability to adapt to change.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High degree of organizational skill, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
