What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Planner position at The Well?
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 Base | Relocation Assistance Available for Qualified Candidates
We're hiring a Financial Planner on behalf of our client — a fast-growing, independent RIA firm based in Alpharetta, GA, managing $400M in assets for high-net-worth individuals and families.
This is a role for someone who loves going deep. You don't just run numbers through software — you understand what's happening behind the calculation, you can validate the model in Excel, and you care deeply about getting it right for the client.
Why This Role?
- Do planning the right way — this firm goes well beyond surface-level financial planning
- Work with high-caliber clients — primarily $1M–$10M in investable assets
- Clear growth path — planner → associate advisor → full advisor, if desired
- Collaborative team culture — report to a highly experienced, relational lead advisor
- Relocation assistance available — open to candidates from Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio
- Faith-based, values-driven environment — mission-focused, high-expectation team
What You'll Do
- Interpret and analyze client financial statements to identify planning opportunities and current issues
- Build personal financial statements, cash flow models, and scenario analyses in Excel and planning software
- Evaluate tax-savvy planning strategies, investment approaches, and income solutions
- Integrate tax, investments, and cash flow into comprehensive, cohesive plan designs
- Prepare presentation materials for advisors to use with prospective and current clients
- Assemble supporting documentation for financial products, strategies, and solutions
- Deliver accurate, timely, and polished work — meeting deadlines with thoroughness and confidentiality
What You Bring
- CPA required PFS or CFP designation — CPA/PFS strongly preferred; firm will support path to PFS for CPA/CFP candidates
- 5 years of financial planning experience in a financial services environment
- Deep Excel proficiency — you can build and validate models from scratch, not just populate templates
- Strong understanding of tax strategy, cash flow analysis, investments, and retirement planning
- Analytical problem-solver who can think through a case — not just run software and accept the output
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for team and advisor collaboration
- Self-managed, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Located in or willing to relocate to the Alpharetta, GA area (relocation assistance provided)
- Candidates from Michigan, Indiana, or Ohio are strongly encouraged to apply
- Genuinely passionate about the planning process — you love the analytical side and want to do it well
- Comfortable in a faith-based, high-expectation, collaborative environment
- Interested in growing — whether into an associate advisor role or deepening your planning expertise
What We Offer
- $100,000–$150,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Relocation assistance available for qualified out-of-state candidates
- High Deductible Health Plan available
- Automatic 3% 401(k) contribution after 6 months
- 10 days PTO approximately 10 paid holidays annually
- Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm in-office schedule (Friday until 4pm)
